We don’t care if it’s cliché or not. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a perfect excuse to donate to the organization of your choice. Whether your primary concern is immediate health care, early detection or funding research to find a cure, there are numerous legitimate charities out there for you to make a difference.
In 2014, 81% of the spending of donated funds to NBCF went to programs like providing mammograms, breast health services, education, and support for those in need. That same year, the ACS spent over $632 million on cancer research, patient support, prevention, education, detection and treatment.
Both are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, which means you can write off donations on your own taxes next spring.
If you need a special time and reason to donate money to good causes, every October is the perfect chance. Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes around every October, so take the opportunity before fall festivities distract you.
